Hooray Chalkboard Paint!

I am getting addicted to chalkboard paint. Seriously, the other night I was looking around the house trying to find things to put it on!

I got a big, free, pizza pan this past weekend that was in need of a makeover!
My project is now complete! *insert evil laugh!*

Before:
This pan had probably seen many pizzas!

 After:

Cost:
Chalkboard Paint- $8.98
Ribbon- 1.99
Chalk- 1.47 (I didn't have any)
Total: $12.44

Not bad for a new, magnetic chalkboard! :) I was very nervous using the chalkboard paint for the first time. I used a sponge brush, one I had from using my Mod Podge :) There are tiny lines in the paint (because I rushed), but overall I love how it turned out!

It makes me smile and it brightens up the kitchen :)

Thrifty Fun!

This weekend was Needville's City Wide garage sale! One of my favorite times of the year. Many, many people in my our hometown of Needville have garage sales.

This year I decided not to wake up too early to go since there wasn't many things I was looking for and those items weren't a big/quick seller items. So my mom and I left at about 8:30.

We decided to try something new this year and stick to the outskirts of the town, where the older homes are. Usually we go into town where the new homes are, but those get SO crowded!!

Here is what came home with me! :)

Mirror- $2.00.
This is going to be made into a chalkboard!

A better idea of the green color.
It's a cute color, but it's going to get repainted.
(Burney says hi!)

Pizza Pan- FREE!
We stopped by my cousin's garage sale and she had this in a "free" box.
As of right now, it has 2 coats of chalkboard paint on it!
A magnetic chalkboard!
Woot!

I got this to be made into a dry erase menu planner like those I've been seeing all around blog land!
However, it is a little bit bigger than I wanted. So I'm thinking the pizza pan will be the menu planner. So I'm trying to figure out what to do with this one!
Picture- .25! (yep, just a quarter!)

1. Blue Avon Jar (matches the one my granny gave me) -.50
      - Those jars go from $6- 17 on Etsy!
- I was so excited to get this so cheap!

2.  Paint Sample- Free!

3. Pampered Chef Food Scraper- .25

4.  Silver Plated Owl Trivet- .75!
- I was SUPER excited about this one!
-I've been eying owl trivets on Etsy for a while now.
-This one on Etsy goes from $8- 18!

Surprisingly this was new in the box (and plastic bag), never opened!
Guess it's been in a closet for a good while!

6. Tubberware Popsicle maker (brand new!) - $3

I have 2 other small pictures that I'm going to group with this one!

That's it! I only took $10 with me and I spent $7! Yay!

Don't Judge!

Because I have a headache and want to post, but not do a long/thought-provoking post on my part... I will tell you about something I found.

A good while back, like a few months go, I was browsing the clearance at Marshall's. I like to hunt for super bargains!

Case in point
I found this.
I thought dang, that box is messed up!

Must be on clearance because it is broken, someone stole a piece(sadly, that happens) or some other reason.

I decided to open the box up and check it. A nice condiment bowl set for $4? I had to check!
I was very pleasantly surprised! There were no missing pieces and nothing was broken. So I snatched it up!

I used it to hold snack food for the rest of the week! :)
The bowls are nice and deep too!

The moral of the story...hince the title of the post....don't judge something by the box it's in! If I did, I would have passed this up not even have given it a second thought!

The Tale of Two Side Tables

One day Joey and I were visiting his aunt, to check out her newly redone floors. She then showed me some side tables. She got new ones and the previous ones were originally from my mother-in-law's parents. So since they had so much history in the family, I said yes.

The original idea was to see if they looked ok in our house, if not then we'd sell them in Needville's City Wide Garage Sale. Well...that was back in September. The end tables would not fit in Joey's car so we had to wait until we could borrow his step-dad's truck or have my car in Needville. We kept putting it off.

Eventually they moved to Joey's mom's house.

By then, the City Wide Garage Sale had long past. To be honest, I was rethinking it. I didn't know if I wanted them anymore. I thought they would just take up space and be something that was free that I snatched up and not something I absolutely loved. However, they were at my mother-in-law's waiting for me.

A few weeks ago, Joey's mom, step-dad, and sister decided to deliver them to our house. I was afraid I would have to break the news to his mom and tell her that I didn't like them.

The awesome thing....turns out.....I LOVE them!! :) What a blessing!!

After they left, I busted out the Pledge and Old English. They looked so much better without all the dust!

Then I had to go around and find items to decorate it with, I was excited!

Well...here are the beauties

Old books were my grandpa's I believe
Little rocking chair- my great grandma's
Button Flower Pot- from grandma
Plant-IKEA (had)
Gold K- Hobby Lobby- 50% off :)
The top part is not little individual drawers, the whole thing swings open!
This one is by the rocking chair.
The top part holds a cup with a pen, highlighter, and bookmark.
Bottom just has a tray in it for now.

Oops, that's a little crooked!
My Goodwill basket- holds stuff that needs to go home with other people.
(My mom's tupperware)

This one is behind the front door, when the door is open. It holds umbrellas for now. I'm thinking about moving the board games in the bottom part.

I love the extra storage I get with these! The wood color goes nicely in the room and I love their uniqueness!

They are mostly empty, so I'm still trying to think of what I can move into them to free up space elsewhere.

So that's the story!

TLDR (Too Long Didn't Read): Committed to take them, Second guessed my commitment, ended up LOVING them!

I want to thank my mother-in-law for storing these for me! My father-in-law was very sweet and loaded/unloaded them into his truck! Also, if Joey's aunt didn't redo her house, I wouldn't have gotten these! Thanks guys! :)
