Thrifty Fun!

This weekend was Needville's City Wide garage sale! One of my favorite times of the year. Many, many people in my our hometown of Needville have garage sales.

This year I decided not to wake up too early to go since there wasn't many things I was looking for and those items weren't a big/quick seller items. So my mom and I left at about 8:30.

We decided to try something new this year and stick to the outskirts of the town, where the older homes are. Usually we go into town where the new homes are, but those get SO crowded!!

Here is what came home with me! :)

Mirror- $2.00.
This is going to be made into a chalkboard!

A better idea of the green color.
It's a cute color, but it's going to get repainted.
(Burney says hi!)

Pizza Pan- FREE!
We stopped by my cousin's garage sale and she had this in a "free" box.
As of right now, it has 2 coats of chalkboard paint on it!
A magnetic chalkboard!
Woot!

I got this to be made into a dry erase menu planner like those I've been seeing all around blog land!
However, it is a little bit bigger than I wanted. So I'm thinking the pizza pan will be the menu planner. So I'm trying to figure out what to do with this one!
Picture- .25! (yep, just a quarter!)

1. Blue Avon Jar (matches the one my granny gave me) -.50
      - Those jars go from $6- 17 on Etsy!
- I was so excited to get this so cheap!

2.  Paint Sample- Free!
     - From my cousin

3. Pampered Chef Food Scraper- .25
- From a "everything's a quarter" type garage sale

4.  Silver Plated Owl Trivet- .75!
- I was SUPER excited about this one!
-I've been eying owl trivets on Etsy for a while now.
-This one on Etsy goes from $8- 18!

Surprisingly this was new in the box (and plastic bag), never opened!
Guess it's been in a closet for a good while!

5. Ladybug wooden beads - .25
- For a wreath

6. Tubberware Popsicle maker (brand new!) - $3
- (It's all the way to the right)

Cute owl painting- .50
Can you tell I like owls? :)
I have 2 other small pictures that I'm going to group with this one!

That's it! I only took $10 with me and I spent $7! Yay!

Garage Sale Time

Today and tomorrow is the Needville City Wide Garage Sale. Mom and I decided to go, just to go. We met up with Mary (my mother-in-law) and went a lookin'! We went to the new subdivision over by the elementary school and some on Luise Street. And then....the rain came!! The clouds started rolling in and we got to the car just in time!

It didn't seem like this time there was too much good stuff out. It was drizzling in the morning, but stopped a little later. So there was not many people out, which was nice...but then the garage sales were not that plentiful either. It would have been great if I wanted clothes or baby stuff. Perhaps we just didn't go to the right spot. We stayed pretty much by the elementary school and since the rain was coming we didn't venture out any more than that.

I did get some goodies though :) My mom bought a few things and Mary bought a cute decorative ceramic bunny. Here's the things I got:
This candle(never used!) is from Bath and Body Works (normally $19.50!)
I paid $2

I thought this was adorable!! :) It can be hung up or set on a shelf
 I paid $2

This is also from Bath and Body Works! It is an oil warmer. You put oil in the top and lift the top and place a tealight candle under. It warms the oil and makes you house smell good!
They had it marked $2. I paid $1

Then I got all these children's books! :D There were more, but I didn't want to spend too much on books.
The lady selling them was really nice!
She wanted $5 for all these
I paid $3!

Total I spent:  $8! :)

Overall it was a good time.

I have also gotten some goodies in the mail this week :)

- Coupon Booklet of Target Coupons
- Light & Easy Cookbook
- Coupon booklet from Eat Better America
- Cute Gooseberry Farm recipe book ( I have been waiting for this one!)
- Dried Plums...but the mailman squished them...so they will be thrown away
- Coupon for Free Seventh Generation dish soap!

That's all for now! Have a great day!

My Garage Sale Findings!

So today was the first day of Needville's City Wide Garage Sale!! :D I woke up at 6:15 on a Saturday willingly to go and find great deals! And find them I did!! I took pictures of all my findings so y'all can see!

In this picture is a garden set, which I will put all my seeds and stuff in, a nice smelling candle (lemongrass), a toothbrush holder to replace ours bc it's rusting, and two blue candle holders...I'll show you later what I'm doing with those! :)

I got  both of these two yard ornaments for only a $1.00!! The top one (if you can't tell) is 2 turtles. They are a lil dirty but I didn't mind since they would be outside anyways!

A cute trivet for decorations. I think our kitchen will be cute country theme. Not too sure yet. If nothing else it will be eclectic. :)

My grandma gave me this pretty clear glass jar/container. At one house I found these beautiful glass beads. Basically the glass you can fill up with anything. Then a candle goes on top. (Can kinda see it in the picture) I am going to buy some clear beads to help fill the jar up more.

This is a key holder. I actually looked at one of these when I went to an antique shop Friday! So instead of paying a lot for it I got it for 50 cents!!

I thought this was really cute, so it's hanging in our kitchen!

I bought 3 lil Aloe Vera plants!! :D I am excited about it! I think one will go in the flower bed and one will be put in a pot and put inside...not too sure about the other one! But this was only .50 or 1.00. I can't remember! lol

This is my favorite purchase!! The second place we went to I bought this! It was only......$5!! :D

It is really beautiful! It has a few scratches, which is understandable since it is old.

It has a nice home in our front room. I used some dust spray and cleaned it and it looks so nice! I thought the pillow looked nice on it; I didn't get it at a garage sale though. The kitties loved smelling the chair and sitting on it :)

That's all! All my goodies I found today!

Oh! I was pleased to hear my friend who is pregnant found some great finds! Including a nice rocking chair, a more suitable one to rock a baby in. She also found baby clothes with the tags still on them!! Yay!

That is all for now!

Have a great night!

Spring time fun!

Happy Spring!

I know I'm a lil late with that since Spring officially started this past Friday, but I am happy that it is springtime!

This past weekend was really fun! Friday when Joey got home we spontaneously decided to go to the rodeo :) It was a nice night out! We honestly went for the food, we like to eat! We went and walked around got some BBQ sandwiches from Holmes Smokehouse...yummy! Then we walked around some more, saw a generator catch on fire....yes you saw that correctly! They had a metal tower, kinda like scaffolding, to have the posters on it advertising the rodeo stuff and on top of that was a light that rotated around, well the generator that powered that just all of a sudden caught fire! It was exciting, all the police came and tried to figure out what to do. The smell of the burning banner smelled SO bad!! Here is a picture of the fire:

I love people watching so the rodeo was really fun for me, Taylor Swift was playing that night and I saw 3 different people I knew there! I was surprised, as big as the crowd is there we managed to see people we knew! :)
(At the rodeo, after eating our funnel cake!)

This past Saturday was Needville's City Wide Garage Sale!!! I went with Mary and Jeanne. Jeanne just found an apartment and we just got a house, so we were major furniture shopping! We found a lot of great things!! I found a couch in perfect condition for.....$25!!!! :D The lady selling it goes to our church and she originally wanted $50 for it, but she said "Since I know how it is" (to start out just married and just getting a house) she gave it to me for $25!! I am so excited to move it into the house and decorate. I also found a nice painting that I am thinking about using in the living room. I also found a lot of decorating things. I found some cute planters, that I might spray paint and use on a bookshelf to store stuff in in the living room! :)

After that Joey and I went on the search for appliances, we didn't buy any yet, but we are trying to find good prices. We went to one place Joe recommended,  they had a really good price on a washer and dryer, but they were a lil expensive on somethings so we decided to try a Sears scratch and dent place. Good stuff, but is very far for delivery! So we ended up on deciding on Lowe's. Lowe's is going to match the price of the washer and dryer from the other place (which is amazing since the price difference is about $100-$200) and we found a fridge we like :) I am excited!

I don't remember if I said in my previous blog anything about the inspection. Well originally we had it planned for this past Friday, well we couldn't do it then since the gas and water weren't turned on. So it got rescheduled to today. The inspection is as followed:

-We have termites, not too bad and there is no visual damage, but we need to get it treated. The termites came in with the landscaping mulch-- darn that mulch.

-A part on the sink that helps the dishwasher drain needs replacing, but that's only a $6 or $7 part, so not bad. Right now when the dishwasher drains water shoots out of the part lol

-The part that lets the smoke out of the fireplace needs some love, the inspector said it was hard to get open

-The satellite was not properly installed, which the inspector said almost all of them are installed this way, the person directly screwed the satellite into the roof instead of using a mount to properly do it. Not a problem to fix. He said just put some silicone around the screws and that will be good.

-Other things he told me about could be fixed with cleaning it (slow drain in bathtub, and a dirty range vent)

OVERALL: He said that this was a really good inspection! He said that he has inspected brand new homes that already need $20,000 to fix the problems!

I was really relieved to hear that! Even though we have termites, it can be treated! :D Pweh!
I believe God wants us to have this house, if not then the bank wouldn't have accepted our offer and we would still be looking. I am so grateful that God blessed us with this house! It is such a blessing to get married then also get a house!

Since I got home from school I have been reading a lady's blog. I'm not going to say who it is, but I know her and her husband, but didn't really know, know her that well. After reading her blog, it shows such a beautiful insight to her life. She seems to shine with God's love. I read her blogs about anything from raising godly children to her thanksgiving for everything. She's such a godly woman! It is really inspiring to me to become a better wife, and a better person for God to use! I want our future children to grow up loving God and knowing more about God than just the common Bible stories. I feel to do this I need to grow in my relationship with Him. Not that I  want to do that just for "the children's sake", but I really want to shine with God's love! I don't want to fall into a routine, saying the same prayers without much meaning, feeling like I have to read the Bible, etc. I want to have a genuinely close relationship with my Creator!

Some of my  thoughts today. I felt a need to share that!

Have a wonderful day!
