Our House! :D

Hi Everyone!

A lot has happened since the last post. We are all moved in! :) As of today we have everything out of the apartment into our house!! Which of course means, if you come over there are many, many boxes now. That will be my project this summer!

We ended up closing on the house April 17th at 1:00. We got out of the office I think about 2:30. We had to go to Pearland, since our realtors were from there, they picked a title company there. Out title company was Stewart, which I have heard is a great title company.

After we closed we immediately came to the house, since we had the Lowe's guy coming and the carpet man coming. When we got to the house the Lowe's guy was already there (he said he arrived early). He worked and put our new fridge, washer and dryer in. When he was almost done the carpet guy came. He cleaned all the floors in the house.

Saturday we had all our loved ones come to help us move in. Unfortunately for us God had plans for much rain that day. Which was good for the planet, bad for moving. So wecleaned. My dad and Mike worked on changing the locks. Mary and I cleaned the house basically . I was very grateful to Mary because she cleaned the bathrooms, which I hate to clean. So Mary if you are reading this thank you so much! :)

That Sunday the weather was great and we had many many people out to help move everything heavy. That night we slept in the house :) All throughout the week we moved what we could. All throughout the week we had: AT&T, the gas people, and termite people out.

Then yesterday we had Joe, Granddad, and Carmen out. Joe got all the green off the panels in the back of the house, it looks awesome, Joey helped him put weed n' feed out, and Joe fixed our dishwasher problem! Carmen helped me decide where to put some kitchen stuff and helped clean. It was a good day! Oh we also had our garage door opener installed! Then today Joey, Mary, my mom, and I got everything out of the apartment and brought it to the house!

I am SO happy not to have to be packing and moving things up and down the stairs in the apartment! I love our house! Everyone else seem to really think it was an amazing deal! That in itself makes me happy. The cats like it, they have more room to run and play.

I haven't taken any pictures of the outside of the house, but as soon as I do, I will post them.

For school: this is the last normal week of this semester!!! Then next week I have only 1 final. All my other finals have been projects, which I like much better. I will still have to go to HBU next week more than once, but just to watch presentations. Oh and one to share a story we have been writing, in my Reading: Pre-Adolescent class. This week, I just have 3 projects to do. I have to teach a phonics lesson to my peers (as if they were little kids), a science magic presentation (like how an egg can get sucked into a bottle) and I have to present my electronic portfolio I have been making throughout the semester in my Application of Technology class.

After that SUMMER!! :D YAY!

I will post some pictures of the house really soon...really I will!

Have a great day! :)

More Waiting...

Hi Guys,

So bad news, our closing date is getting pushed back till "early next week". The problem is the office doing all the paperwork is going slow. The bank wants to be able to look at it for min. 72hrs. And even though we have had this set date for a month they can't seem to get it together. UGH!!

I'm sorry guys I just need to get my frustrations out. We had everything planned for this weekend. We were going to get the carpet cleaned this Friday, along with Lowe's coming to deliver our appliances. I was going to spend my day off cleaning the house and then Sat. we were going to have family out and we were going to be moving in some. It is just so frustrating!! Now poor Joey has to call everyone and tell them not to come. We don't even know the exact date yet!!! And instead of me having a nice day off and be able to get the house ready I will now either have to wait until the weekend or go over there sometimes in the week and clean.

I was so looking forward to this weekend. Having to maybe miss class (don't worry we don't do anything in that class anyways) on Thurs. and go close and just to get everything rolling and have a nice long weekend to do everything.

I guess you can tell that I really don't like it when my plans have to be changed. I get everything planned out and when it doesn't go the way I thought it would I get upset. That is something I need to work on with the smaller stuff. But this is major. I know everything will work out and there is a reason for this, even though it really makes me angry right now, maybe we will see a reason for this later.

I will keep you updated on when we close. I really wish that the bank could shorten their days to stare at the contract, or the office handling our stuff could hurry up and rush it to them so we could close when we are planning to.

I am trying to not be so angry and upset about this. I'm sorry this post is such a downer.

Oh, I have a story that might make you laugh.

The other day when I was about to go to my class I noticed that there was something on the back of the driver's seat in my vehicle. I looked more closely and it was a baby praying mantis. I was so excited bc if you know me I love animals and baby anything makes most every animal even cuter. So I struggle with him (I made it a male) to get him to go on a leaf in a tree nearby. Well it was windy and those things jump. So I lost track of him and I went on my way. Then when I got home I noticed that he had made it back to my car. He was sitting on the trim on the inside. Again I tried to free him and lost track of him.

Then Fri. I got in my car and saw a lil dead praying mantis on my steering wheel. It made me sad bc I thought he ended up in my car again and he died (from the heat). Well yesterday I went to Target. Got back in my car and there were 3 praying mantises on my door on the inside. I looked back in my car and noticed about 4 or so more baby praying mantises all hanging from the ceiling!! ACK!! It was scary! I managed to get the 3 out of the car that were on the door. But one started crawiling on me when I was almost home. Then Joey came out and helped get them out of the car! :) There were about a DOZEN of them!!! Even this morning I found a dead one hanging on in my visor!

Now I would much rather have had those than baby spiders or something that would bite. But there were just WAY too many of them for me!! Oh and the culprete that brought them into my car....planters I bought at the Needville City Wide Garage Sale. I had them in my car and was going to keep them there until we closed. So now they are outside our door!

Here is a picture of what they looked like:
It's a funny story :) I feel better now.

Have a great day! :)

Spring time fun!

Happy Spring!

I know I'm a lil late with that since Spring officially started this past Friday, but I am happy that it is springtime!

This past weekend was really fun! Friday when Joey got home we spontaneously decided to go to the rodeo :) It was a nice night out! We honestly went for the food, we like to eat! We went and walked around got some BBQ sandwiches from Holmes Smokehouse...yummy! Then we walked around some more, saw a generator catch on fire....yes you saw that correctly! They had a metal tower, kinda like scaffolding, to have the posters on it advertising the rodeo stuff and on top of that was a light that rotated around, well the generator that powered that just all of a sudden caught fire! It was exciting, all the police came and tried to figure out what to do. The smell of the burning banner smelled SO bad!! Here is a picture of the fire:

I love people watching so the rodeo was really fun for me, Taylor Swift was playing that night and I saw 3 different people I knew there! I was surprised, as big as the crowd is there we managed to see people we knew! :)
(At the rodeo, after eating our funnel cake!)

This past Saturday was Needville's City Wide Garage Sale!!! I went with Mary and Jeanne. Jeanne just found an apartment and we just got a house, so we were major furniture shopping! We found a lot of great things!! I found a couch in perfect condition for.....$25!!!! :D The lady selling it goes to our church and she originally wanted $50 for it, but she said "Since I know how it is" (to start out just married and just getting a house) she gave it to me for $25!! I am so excited to move it into the house and decorate. I also found a nice painting that I am thinking about using in the living room. I also found a lot of decorating things. I found some cute planters, that I might spray paint and use on a bookshelf to store stuff in in the living room! :)

After that Joey and I went on the search for appliances, we didn't buy any yet, but we are trying to find good prices. We went to one place Joe recommended,  they had a really good price on a washer and dryer, but they were a lil expensive on somethings so we decided to try a Sears scratch and dent place. Good stuff, but is very far for delivery! So we ended up on deciding on Lowe's. Lowe's is going to match the price of the washer and dryer from the other place (which is amazing since the price difference is about $100-$200) and we found a fridge we like :) I am excited!

I don't remember if I said in my previous blog anything about the inspection. Well originally we had it planned for this past Friday, well we couldn't do it then since the gas and water weren't turned on. So it got rescheduled to today. The inspection is as followed:

-We have termites, not too bad and there is no visual damage, but we need to get it treated. The termites came in with the landscaping mulch-- darn that mulch.

-A part on the sink that helps the dishwasher drain needs replacing, but that's only a $6 or $7 part, so not bad. Right now when the dishwasher drains water shoots out of the part lol

-The part that lets the smoke out of the fireplace needs some love, the inspector said it was hard to get open

-The satellite was not properly installed, which the inspector said almost all of them are installed this way, the person directly screwed the satellite into the roof instead of using a mount to properly do it. Not a problem to fix. He said just put some silicone around the screws and that will be good.

-Other things he told me about could be fixed with cleaning it (slow drain in bathtub, and a dirty range vent)

OVERALL: He said that this was a really good inspection! He said that he has inspected brand new homes that already need $20,000 to fix the problems!

I was really relieved to hear that! Even though we have termites, it can be treated! :D Pweh!
I believe God wants us to have this house, if not then the bank wouldn't have accepted our offer and we would still be looking. I am so grateful that God blessed us with this house! It is such a blessing to get married then also get a house!

Since I got home from school I have been reading a lady's blog. I'm not going to say who it is, but I know her and her husband, but didn't really know, know her that well. After reading her blog, it shows such a beautiful insight to her life. She seems to shine with God's love. I read her blogs about anything from raising godly children to her thanksgiving for everything. She's such a godly woman! It is really inspiring to me to become a better wife, and a better person for God to use! I want our future children to grow up loving God and knowing more about God than just the common Bible stories. I feel to do this I need to grow in my relationship with Him. Not that I  want to do that just for "the children's sake", but I really want to shine with God's love! I don't want to fall into a routine, saying the same prayers without much meaning, feeling like I have to read the Bible, etc. I want to have a genuinely close relationship with my Creator!

Some of my  thoughts today. I felt a need to share that!

Have a wonderful day!

Spring Break!!

Hi Guys!

As you can tell by the title this week is my Spring Break!! It is much needed and appreciated! This past week was so crazy and tiring! I had 3 tests, well I was going to have 3 but one got moved to next Tuesday! But the two tests I had to take were both on Wed and the 3rd one was going to be on Thursday! :( But I survived and am SO happy that it's Spring Break!

So these are my plans for this week: (just in case you are wondering what a 20 year old does on Spring Break)

- Read sections of my Children's Literature book for a presentation due the week I get back
- Do powerpoint
- Study for test that was moved
- Start reading a book that I have to give a presentation over
(These are to get ahead)
- Do a lesson plan for a class
- Read Ch. 8 and create a "reflection" - which is a word document reflecting on the chapter (using clip art, word art, smart art, etc)
- Start on powerpoint on a book
- Continue reading the 100 books I have to read in Children's lit. that's due at the end of the semester!

For housework:
- vacuum- whole apartment
- laundry
- sweep and swiffer every hard floor
- Take recycling
- Go through stuff for City Wide garage sale, then take stuff to the church for the youth to sell
- Finish doing thank-you notes (yes I know...thank you notes still! lol)

As you can see I have a busy week planned! :) I want to get a head start on my homework though since we will probably be moving in April.... oh yeah
WE HAVE A HOUSE!! :D

I have postponed putting that on here just in case the inspector finds something really bad, but the bank is taking their sweet time looking over the contract so we haven't been able to get the ball rolling more. So an inspector hasn't come out yet. But it is a newer house and I believe that God really wants us to have this house so everything will be ok :)

I am soo excited about getting a house and having something to decorate! I watch HGTV all the time and was never able to paint or put in a new...anything! So I am excited about decorating!

Oh and Joey got our first costumer with our business! So that is really exciting! I am going later today to pick up parts for the computer! :)

Everything is just really exciting right now, including the fact that Spring is coming!! :) I love the spring time! Flowers and warm weather! yay!

Oh, my fieldwork ended well. My last day a boy shoved a crayon up his nose!! It was funny, but then I felt bad for him! He wasn't crying, he was calm as ever. My fieldwork teacher took him to the nurse and the nurse tried to get him to try blowing it out but he told her "I already tried that and it didn't work!" lol Poor thing so I guess his mom had to take him to the doctor that day to get it out!! I was a little sad ending my fieldwork, being there for almost everyday for a month you get a lil attached to the kids. But I didn't get too emotional and everything was good. I didn't have to give a speech like my last fieldwork (that was horrible, I almost cried and that was with 4th graders!). I just left that day. I did enjoy being with the kids, but am happy I get to sleep! :)

Well I will let your eyes rest! Have a great and sunny day! :D

What's happening!

Hi Everyone!

I have been so busy since the last post! My fieldwork is almost over I just have Mon-Wed. this coming week and I am done!! I am excited about going to normal but I think I will miss the students! They are cute...well some of them lol :) I did my one major lesson I had to do. It had to be a writing lesson. The students were learning about Presidents, so my lesson was about Obama. Politics aside it was a really cute lesson :) The main idea of the lesson it that President Obama was looking for a pet and needed the classes help to decide! I read a book that talked about the past presidents' pets. Mostly the crazy ones(John Adams' wife raised silk worms...the smallest White House pets. Teddy had 40 pets...everything from hyenas to bears) Then after I read to them we together wrote a letter to Obama. Basically:

Dear President Obama,
We heard that you were looking for a pet. There has been many different pets in the White House. We are going to send you some of our suggestions.
Your Friends,
Ms. Schneider's class

After that I had the students write "You should get a:______" and fill in the blank then draw a picture of the animal. It turned out SO cute!! As you can tell I am really excited about my lesson lol

This past weekend (not this one the one before) was Mardi Gras in Galveston. It was fun but COLD!! Don't worry we were in the good part, so no flashing! :) lol Sara and Carrie(Sara's friend) were down from Austin for that, it made it funner. (Sara is Joey's cousin) The next day we went to Shrimp and Stufff...AWESOME!!! I was the only one that didn't get shrimp LOL I had the catfish. It was delicious! :D This weekend has been nice and relaxing so far.

OH!! We are starting to look for a HOUSE! :D Joe, Joey's dad, knows a guy real well that is a realtor and he is going to help us! He sounds really nice! So tomorrow we are going to go look at some houses that he has emailed us about earlier this week! :D I am so excited about house hunting! I have been in an apartment for so long and it would be nice to paint or just do whatever with our home! :) I am excited about getting our first house! The houses that we are going to go look at tomorrow seem really nice! I will let you know how it goes!

Well not everyone is happy these days. With that I mean Daisy.

She has either really dry skin, or a nervous licking habit. She has one spot she likes to lick and she has made it where it doesn't have any fur on it...it's just gross. So Tuesday I went to Petco and got a cone thing to put around her head so she would stop licking it. She went INSANE when I put it on her! She ran around dragging her head, she pulled on her head with her paws, she tried to knock it off by hitting it against the wall. Luckily she has gotten used to it, for the most part. Every once and a while she freaks out because she can't see as well and something moves or makes a noise and she jumps straight in the air! She has gotten paint on it because she runs into walls! lol Today she was chasing Yao and ran to go under the dining room chair and she hit the top of the cone right on the top of the foot bar. Then she tried to get out from under the table and hit another one. By the 3rd hit she found her way out. It is funny, but then you feel sorry for her! :) We are keeping that on her until she spot heals. She eats and drinks and bites Yao just fine though.

Joey and I are doing good. Besides allergies. The change in weather gets me! It must be bad since Joey has problems too. Nothing that we can't get over though :) Well I am afraid my post is long enough! :)

Have a great day! :D

One Month Later

Hi Everyone!

I haven't been able to write a blog lately, this week I started field work for one of my classes so every time I get home I'm exhausted!

Everything has been going really well :) I love being married! I love that Joey is always there! I have cooked some meals, been cleaning, and all the wife stuff :) lol I love it! There are times when I am tired and I don't want to do anything so if it can wait, it does!

School has been going well. I have the same teacher for 3 classes...which can get very old real fast! We started our fieldwork, like I mentioned ^. We are doing the fieldwork weird where we only do it for a month, but it's Mon-Thurs. 8-11. So I REALLY look forward to Fridays! :) My school is at Beltway 8 and Memorial Drive. So I have to take the beltway, thankfully it hasn't been too crazy in the morning. I have a Kindergarten class, and the teacher is awesome! She's only been teaching 5yrs, so she is young and she is getting married this June. I like the fieldwork, I just have to get used to waking up so early!

Not much has really happened lol Just living! We got a new and bigger tank for the turtles. Went from a 20gallon to a 40 gallon. They like it! We also got them some goldfish to eat...Tardy caught and ate one last night! It was exciting to watch. Nibbler...he was just excited...I think he thinks the fish are their new pets! :D

The cats are doing fine. They wake us up every morning. About an hour before our alarm goes off it seems. The cats like to fight on our bed. This week I haven't been waken up too much bc I just slept hard since I've been getting up early. It was bad though bc Daisy loved to get under the bed and scratch the bottom of the box springs so I used to wake up to that ALL the time! Ugh! But we stuffed stuff around the bed so they can't get under the bed. It's been better since then! :)

My poor plant is dead. I had a pretty ivy in a nice yellow pot on the dresser in the bedroom. Every night one of the kitties would climb up and chew/bite the leaves. Well a leaf fell off, then the other one did...so it was just the stalk. I left it so it could still live...well...someone thought that made it more appealing to bite so it got totally pulled out of the dirt. LOL I miss having it, but I'll be ok :)

I just want to thank everyone so much again for everything you have done for us! :)

Have a great day!
